The Swiss Association of Mountain Guides Partnership

The Swiss Association of Mountain Guides Partnership

The Swiss Association of Mountain Guides and Movement Skis have concluded a strategic partnership for the coming years. The ASGM prioritizes as much as possible "Swissness" partnerships. With Movement Skis this goal is reached and guarantees quality for mountain guides.

Pierre Mathey, director of the ASGM sat down with us to answer a few questions about the ASGM and our new partnership.

How long has the ASGM existed?
The Swiss Mountain Guides Association was founded in 1906. It is recognized in Switzerland and internationally as an official contact and partner of the mountain professions.
Why has it been created?
The Swiss Mountain Guides Association was created with the aim:
  • to defend the professional interests of its members. Its core tasks include the permanent improvement of the economic and political framework conditions for the exercise of professional activity throughout Switzerland

  • to offer professional training with a federal diploma and continuous high level, in order to guarantee quality services for the customers and to answer the legal requirements fixed for the activities known as at risk.

How many members does ASGM have?

The Swiss Mountain Guides Association has about 1850 members (mountain guides, mountain leaders, and climbing teachers). Mountain guides, a profession that is more than two hundred years old, represent the majority.

Why did you choose Movement as your ski partner?

The Swiss Mountain Guides Association has chosen the Movement brand for three main reasons:
  • The quality and reputation of Movement skis and products

  • The innovation and dynamism of the Movement company

  • The Swissness of the Movement brand

In this sense, these three points fully justify the merits of the new partnership between Movement and the Swiss Mountain Guides.

Was it important for the ASGM to be associated with a Swiss brand?

Yes, it is very important. The quality, innovation, and reputation of products "made in Switzerland" are recognized worldwide. Currently, all partners of the Swiss Mountain Guides Association are Swiss companies and products.

Why do you think the collaboration between Movement and ASGM is important?

This collaboration is all the more important as skiing, in its practice and as equipment, is the main activity and income of the majority of Swiss mountain guides. Ski touring and freeride are practices with high added value. The human well-being, the respect for the environment, and the economic added value are here combined to confirm that this partnership is sincerely sustainable.

"The agreement signed with MOVEMENT Skis allows the ASGM to reinforce its image and its reputation as a professional association of mountain professions. Offering high quality and innovative skis to its members is in perfect adequacy with the perpetual development of our mountain guide training and activities", declares Pierre Mathey, director of the ASGM.
